Hashimoto's thyroiditis
High levels of anti-TG, or anti-thyroglobulin antibodies, typically indicate an autoimmune response targeting the thyroid gland. Thyroglobulin is a protein produced by the thyroid gland and is essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. When the immune system mistakenly identifies thyroglobulin as a threat, it produces antibodies against it.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis
Elevated levels of anti-TG antibodies are commonly associated with autoimmune thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and Graves’ disease. These antibodies may contribute to the destruction of thyroid tissue, leading to decreased thyroid hormone production and subsequent symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, and mood changes. Monitoring anti-TG levels is crucial in diagnosing and managing thyroid autoimmune conditions, guiding treatment decisions, and assessing disease progression.
